Partners Description

The consortium consists of partners from higher education, private industry, law enforcement, municipalities, and NGO’s. The partners have extensive expertise in the design and implementation of training programs in the field of international safety and security working with and employing safety and security professionals from the operational to the strategic level. An advisory board consisting of core players in the security arena ensures the quality, practical relevance and wide dissemination of activities.

Initiatives is a research-based advisory firm. We design and drive multi-stakeholder initiatives with public and private organizations.  We work with co-creation methodologies developed in collaboration with global thought leaders such as Stanford University d.school, University Technology Sydney and IDEO.

We use strategic visualization as tool to create clarity, communication and engagement. We teach strategic co-creation, strategic change management and data design at courses at MBA level at Copenhagen Business School, Rotterdam School of Management, Stanford University.   Initiatives contributes to several think tanks and councils.

Among these, the international think tank for global safety ’Pearls in Policing’ for National Police Commissioners, Interpol, Europol, Eurojust and more. Initiatives works with international police executives on global security challenges such as cyber crime, de-radicalization, and financial crime. Furthermore, Initiatives' co-founding partner, Dr. Rex Degnegaard is a standing member of the European Corporate Security Association.

EPS is a professional membership body of over 1250, its expertise and credentials residing in its membership, a majority of whom are professional practitioners in safety and security. It is non-profit making (not VAT registered but a private Ltd company) therefor excess revenues are fed back into improving training, knowledge, professional development and events etc. for improving and expanding the quality of education and knowledge in safety and security across the UK, EU and beyond. Founded in 1993, the membership of EPS provides a full spectrum of safety and security expertise, domains and sectors – private, public and voluntary – at both SME and large enterprise levels, with its membership working across the breadth of the UK, the EU and beyond internationally. EPS is active, both directly and through its membership, across a wide variety of conferences, exhibitions, consultations and training and professional development activities, both in the UK and internationally, where members bring their expertise and professional credentials from the organisations in which they work, to represent and further the collective whole of professional practitioners in safety and security, through and under the unifying umbrella of the EPS.

FORMIT - Fondazione per la Ricerca sulla Migrazione e sulla Integrazione delle Tecnologie - is a not-for- profit private law Foundation established in 1985, recognized by Italian Minister of University and Technological Research and by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.FORMIT has been working at international level since its establishment, concentrating its activities of consultancy and scientific and economic research on security and technologies and in their migration and transfer, establishing itself as a connecting link between those producing research and innovation and those who derive benefits from it.

FORMIT operates at national and international levels through its offices in Italy and Brussels for State and International Institutions, Academies, Firms dealing with the production and the exploitation of technological innovation. FORMIT does not receive any financing from third parties but exclusively from the provision of its service and research activities. This impartiality enables FORMIT to work closely with important national and international institutions in their decision making processes, in policy support actions, research and training.

Since 2008 FORMIT has been involved in 25 international projects, with 80 different project partners in more than 30 Countries in Europe, South-East Asia, and Middle-East. Since 2011 FORMIT undertook the governance of the Italian University UNINT (Rome University of International Studies), contributing to its development and success.

Lapprand Conseil International is a small company that relies on its founder’s expertise and network to deliver consultancy services in the field of security. Over time it has built a strong experience in two areas where it has been able to build teams either to work directly as an autonomous service provider or to be part large scale operations under the auspices of a major operator. 

Its first area of competency is security sector reform and police reengineering especially in transition and post crisis countries. With a focus on security governance, policy and strategy it has worked on behalf of the UN, the EU and of the UK in Africa and in the Middle East. Its second competency is relevant to corporate security with a strong commitment in the fight against illicit trade.

The Police Academy is the centre for training, knowledge and research for the Dutch National Police. It is a dynamic organization, offering training and knowledge programs on the highest level, anticipating developments in society and translating these into customized education programs. The Police Academy cooperates with the National Police and other partners in the field of security, education, knowledge and research. 

The Police Academy ensures the police can dispose of the best people and gives these people the opportunity to continuously develop themselves. An important focus point is the combination of expertise, skills, professional attitude and behaviour. The Police Academy also carries out applied research. Not only do the results of this have a direct influence on the education, but the Police Academy also contributes in this way to the development of police practice.

The Institute for Public Security of Catalonia is the training centre for the region’s police forces and emergency services and a key part of Catalonia’s public security and safety system. By training all public security and safety workers in a single centre, we can focus on the principles of cooperation and coordination that form the cornerstones of any integrated public safety system.

As well as providing training, the Institute is involved in the recruitment and professional development of members of these services; it builds on and transfers knowledge relating to public security and safety through research, international cooperation, publications and public events.

As such, it has also become an important meeting place and networking centre for people working in this field. In recent years, quick to meet the needs of organisations and other groups, the Institute has branched out into university education, leadership training and new learning tools, such as ISPC on network.
