Dear Security Community,
This letter wants to wish you a great New Year and to present the main ISMKA outcomes achieved during 2017 as well as the incoming actions planned for 2018.
Following the Kick-off Consortium meeting held on the 24th of January 2017 at the Rotterdam School of Management – Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the project partners had the opportunity to regularly discuss about the project development during the monthly Project Management Team (PMT) Meetings as well as during a Second Consortium meeting hosted by FORMIT on the 11th and 12th of October 2017 at the University of International Studies of Rome.
Several further activities have been discussed, planned and implemented during the just ended 2017:
- We have designed a Project Logo and launched the official website (www.ism-ka.eu) as well as a tailored Twitter Account (@ismkalliance) has been activated to keep you posted on the main project actions.
- We attended the ESTORIL CONFERENCES on 29th of May, organizing an International Workshop dedicated to discussing with the audience about emerging models of engagement to target International security threats as well as to present and share the current project achievements and expectations.
- All the Project partners provided a coherent Desk-based analysis related to each own expertise, establishing a very good basis to create a complete and innovative curriculum for delivering an International Security Management Master’s Degree. (The Deliverable regarding results outlined through the Desk-based analysis will be available on the website very soon).
- Significant progress on the development of the Horizon Scanning Tool and the Multilogue Platform are made, and the whole Consortium is working hard to implement useful tools to support the Educational activities as well as to ensure a wide information sharing among the Security Community.
(The Deliverable regarding results outlined through the first horizon scanning exercise from input of partners and AB will be available on the website very soon).
- Following some insights outlined during the First Advisory Board meeting, hosted by the SAS Institute (AB member) on the 30th of March 2017, a series of National Expert Panel meetings have been planned. In this regard, the Project partners aim at joining with National Stakeholders to consider more systematically regional and sector specific needs, which would be functional for the Horizon Scanning and for the content development of the ISM Master’s Programme. Currently, some Expert Panel meetings have been organized in Germany, Spain, and Portugal, but we aim at establishing several further National meetings in most European countries to create a broader network of expertise.
One of the most important event expected to be realized during 2018 is the incoming Security Narratives Symposium host by CESAM on the next 9th of March, which will be preceded by the Third Consortium meeting and the Advisory Board meeting scheduled on the 8th of March 2018 at the Rotterdam School of Management – Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Those meetings will provide the ISMKA partners with a great opportunity to have face to face discussions with international contributors from diverse backgrounds related to the security field (public and private sector, and academics from management, information technology, and criminology).
By the end of the year, we expect to achieve significant enhancements in developing the ISM Master’s Programme, which curriculum and administrative information will be disseminated through the organization of National Infodays among all the Project partners’ countries.
We hope many of you will join us during the incoming ISMKA events to discuss on current challenges and to cooperate in view of implementing new strategies to support the European Security Community.
Do not forget to follow us at www.ism-ka.eu, and @ismkalliance.
Warmest regards,
The ISMKA Consortium
