On November 29th and 30th 2018, the 5th ISM-KA Consortium meeting was held at the Catalan Ministry of the Interior in Barcelona, Spain.
The “International Security Management Knowledge Alliance” (ISM-KA) project reached its twenty-third month of life, and Consortium members (i.e. RSM, CENTRIC, FORMIT, POLITIE, ISPC, LCI, NOVA) were hosted by the Institute for Public Security of Catalonia - ISPC with the aim assessing the Project’s status and fixing relevant arguments to jointly proceed towards a proactive implementation of the main activities expected within the last year of the ISM-KA project.
During the first day of meeting, progress about the main ISM-KA tools development (i.e. Horizon Scanning Tool, Security Multilogue Platform, MOOC) was presented by each leading organisation to foster a subsequent discussion about the project exploitation. Particular attention was put on ongoing activities directed towards the preparation and delivery of the International Security Management Master Programme, which represent the core outcome of the ISM-KA framework. Following a detailed update concerning the expected involvement of partner organisations within the accreditation procedure, results of a Benchmarking analysis on competitive Master Programmes already available on the market were described by FORMIT, that also led a tailored discussion to outline some of the most relevant topics to be included in a joint Business Plan.
The second day of meeting gave consortium partners the opportunity to reach important agreements towards the implementation of a long-lasting ISM-KA strategy, which will cover both the project lifecycle and the future of the Knowledge Alliance. As a result of the proactive involvement of all partner organisations during tailored group exercises, shared basis for drafting the Manifesto of the Alliance were posed and, common interest to ensure sustainable partnerships in the long term was expressed.
Before the conclusion of the 5th ISM-KA Consortium meeting, the Dissemination and Communication Strategy to be implemented during the last year of the project was presented, stressing the importance of ensuring a tight cooperation among the whole consortium in order to guarantee proper visibility of the innovative and useful ISM-KA tools provided to support the International Community of Stakeholders interested in both Public and Private Security Management.
